(a) State Newton’s third law of motion and give two examples to illustrate the law.
(b)Calculate the force required to produce :
(i) an acceleration of 2.5 m/s2 in a body of 4 kg
(ii) an acceleration of 3.0 m/s2 in a body of 10 kg.
The Newton’s third law states that,
For every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction between bodies.
Example ;
1) Swimmer,the person who is swimming pushes water backward, while water pushes the person forward.
2)Bouncing Of Ball: When a ball hit ground or a wall the ball apply a force on the wall or on the ground. The wall or the ground apply a reaction force then the ball bounce back.
b)
i) F = m a
Given, m = 4 kg
a = 2.5 m/s2
F = 4 × 2.5 = 10 N
ii) F = ma
Given, m=10kg
a = 3 m/s2
F = 10 × 3 = 30 N
Thank you :)
