In series , net ϵ=nϵ
net r=nr
Current =nεnr+R(1)
In parallel , net ε = ε (in parallel ε is same)

Current =εrn+R(2)
According to question $n = 2 ,R = 2$
(1)=(2)
2ε2r+2=rr2+2
r+4=2r+2
r = 2Ω
