Question

A sugar solution is 10 (w/v). Find (w/v%) if density of solution is 1.25 g/ml.

Open in App
Solution

10%w/v solution of sugar in water means 10 g of glucose present in 100g of water.
Then Mass of glucose is 10g
Mass of water is = 100g10g=90g=0.09kg
and density = 1.2gmL1
To find the molarity i.e,wv
Density = mv=1.2 g/ml
volume=massdensity
molality=100g1.2g/ml=83.33ml=0.0833L
molarity=0.05660.0833=0.67M
