Solution

The correct option is B 592 sq. ft
The area of the swimming pool can be divided into three parts A, B and C as shown:

Both part A and part C are squares of side 6 ft each.

You know,
Area of a Square=Length ×Length

So, area of square A will be
=6 ft×6 ft=36 sq.ft

Area of square C will be
=6 ft×6 ft=36 sq.ft

Now, for part B,
Breadth =26 ft6 ft=20 ft
Length =20 ft+6 ft=26 ft

We know,
Area of a rectangle=Length×Breadth

∴ Area of rectangle B will be=26 ft×20 ft=520 sq.ft

Total area of the swimming pool will be
=Area of A+Area of B+Area of C.=36 sq.ft+520 sq.ft+36 sq.ft. =592 sq.ft.

Hence, the total area required for the swimming pool is 592 sq.ft
