A thief is spotted by a policeman from a distance of 100 metres. When the policeman starts the chase the thief also starts running. If the speed of the thief is 8 km/hr and that of the policeman 10 km/hr, how far the thief will have to run before he is overtaken ?

1000m=1km
the distance is 1001000=.1km
let time =x
10x=0.1+8x
2x=0.1
x=0.05
it will take the policeman .05hours to catch the thief
the thief would have run .05×8=.4km=400meters
