Question

A thin and circular disc of mass M and radius R is rotating in a horizontal plane about an axis passing through its centre and perpendicular to its plane with angular velocity ω. Solution

The correct option is C 45ω
moment of inertia (I) of disc rotating initially with w :-
I=MR22
when another disc of mass=M/4 placed coaxially new moment of inertia (I) about same axis.
I=I+(M4)R22 [R is same]
=MR22+MR28=5MR28
Applying law of conservation of Angular Momentum:
L=Iw=IW=constant
MR22w=5MR28w
w=45w
