A train 280m long is moving at a speed of 60km/hr. What is the time taken by it to cross a platform 220m long?

Solution

Time taken:

Length of the train =280m

Length of the platform = 220m

Hence, to cross the platform completely the train has to cover a distance of

Distancecovered=lengthoftrain+lengthofplatformDistancecovered=280+220m=500mDistancecovered=5001000km=0.5km

Hence, we can find the time as when speed and distance covered is given we use the formula:

Timetaken=distancecoveredspeedTimetaken=0.560hr=0.560×60min=0.5minTimetaken=0.5×60sec=30sec

Therefore, he time taken by it to cross a platform 220m long is 30seconds.
