Solution

The correct option is B
3 hours
Given,
Onward journey of the train from station A to B
Speed = 60 km/h
Time taken = 2 h

Return journey of the train from station B to A
Speed = 40 km/h
Time taken = ?

Since, the distance travelled by the train in onward and return journey will be same.
So, distance travelled by the train between station A and B =
= speed * time
=60 km/h * 2h
= 120 km
Time taken in the return journey = (Distance between stations)/ (return speed)
= (120 km)/(40 km/h)
= 3 h or 3 hours

Thus, the time taken by the train to station A fron station B is 3 hours
