Solution

The correct option is C

Both will cover the same distance

Explanation for the correct option-

Option (C)

  1. Let the Kinetic energy of truck is K.ET, let the Kinetic energy of car is K.EC.
  2. Now, according to the question kinetic energy of both truck and car are same K.ET=K.EC
  3. Here, we put the formula of kinetic energy that is K.E=12mv2(m=massandv=velocity)
  4. If m1=massofthetruckv1=velocityoftruckm2=massofthecarv2=velocityofcar
  5. Then, 12m1v12=12m2v22m1v12=m2v22
  6. According to the third law of Newton-

For truck-

v2=u2+2aS(v=velocity,u=initialvelocity,a=acceleration,s=distancemoved)0=v12+2(-a)S1v12-2aS1=0S1=v122a

6. As, we know

f=ma(f=force)a=fm1(fortruck)

So, S1=v122fm1=m1v122f

7. For car same as above mentioned-

S2=m2v222f

8. After comparing speed of both truck and car- S1=S2(becausem1v12=m2v22) and f is same for both.

Thus, both will cover the same distance.

Hence, Option (C) is correct.
