Question

A truck travelling along a straight road at a constant speed of 72kph passes a car at time t=0 moving much slower. At instant the truck passes the car, the car starts accelerating at constant 1m/sq.sec and overtake the truck 0.6km further down the road, from where the car moves uniformly. Find the distance between them at t=50sec

Solution

uc=0 spped of truckut=72 km/h = 20 m/s for truckdistance tarvel by truck in time t = 0.6 km = 600 mt = 60020 = 30sa is the acceleration of cars = ut+12at2600 = 0+0.5×a×900a=4/3 m/s2distance tarvel by car in 50 seconds = 12×43×2500 = 5000/3 mdistance travel by truck in 50 seconds = 20*50 = 1000 mdistance between them = 50003-1000 = 2000/3 m = 666.66 m
