The correct option is D 502 km/hr south-west
Initial velocity of truck,
V1=50^j
Final velocity of truck,
V2=50^i
Change in velocity = final velocity - initial velocity
ΔV=50^i50^j
Hence, magnitude of change in velocity is,
|ΔV|=(50)2+(50)2=502 km/hr
We can see that both component of resultant vector is negative, so the angle of change in velocity vector lies in third quadrant and equal to 45 from both west and south. Hence, the direction is South – West.
