The correct option is C 15.115kg
Density is iron ρ=R.D× density of water=7.8×103 kg/m3
Volume of the iron piece, V=Mρ=1.87.8×103=0.23×103m3
Since half iron piece is immersed in water, so volume of water displaced by iron piece V=V2=0.23×1032m3
Upthrust on iron piece =Vρwg=0.23×1032×103×9.8N=4.9×0.23N=4.9×0.239.8kgf=0.115kgf
Total upward reaction =15+0.115=15.115kgf Reading on the spring balance = total upward reaction =15.115kgf
