The correct option is A

Rs. 145.60

Since the door need not be painted, we have to subtract the area of the door from that of the wall’s area.

Area of a rectangle with length 'l' and breadth 'b' = $l\times b$

Given, length of the wall = 8 m

breadth of the wall = 4 m

$\therefore$ Wall’s area = 8 $\times$ 4 = 32 $m^2$

Similarly, door’s area = 2.4 $\times$ 1.2 = 2.88 $m^2$

Area to be painted = (32 – 2.88) $m^2$ = 29.12 $m^2$

Amount charged by the painter = Rs. $\frac{5}{m^2}$

$\therefore$ Money to be paid for getting the wall painted = Rs. $\frac{5}{m^2}$ $\times$ $29.12$ $m^2$ = Rs. 145.6 [$m^2$ in the numerator and denominator cancel each other]
