A well with 14 m diameter is dug 8 m deep. The earth taken out of it has been evenly spread all around it to a width of 21 m to form embankment. Find the height of the embankment.

Given:
A well with 14 m diameter is dug 8 m deep and Width of the embarkment is 21 m.

Let, the inner radius be r, outer radius be R and height be h.

r=142=7 m and R=(7+21)=28 m

Volume of the earth taken out
=πr2h

=(227×72×8)m3

=1232 m3

Base area of embarkment
=π(R2r2)

=227(287)(28+7)

=2310 m2

Now, height of the embarkment
=Volume of the earthBase area of embarkment

=12322310=0.533 m=53.3 cm

Hence, the height of the embarkment is 53.3 cm.
