  1. Wind power or wind energy is mostly the use of wind turbines as shown in the image above to generate electricity.
  2. Wind power is a popular, sustainable, renewable energy source that has a much smaller impact on the environment than burning fossil fuels.
  3. Wind power has been used in sails, windmills, and windpumps but today it is mostly used to generate electricity.

b)

  1. Wind currents are produced due to the non-uniform heating of the Earth.
  2. That means uneven heating at the equator and the poles.
  3. The image above showing the direction of flow of wind.
  4. This warm air rises and the making up of cooler air from the regions with the 0-30 degrees latitude belt on either side of the equator moves in.
  5. This is how wind currents are generated.
  6. This is the reason why wind energy is considered as an indirect source of solar energy.
