(a) Adolescents are easily affected by peer pressure, adventure, curiosity, excitement or experimentation. So, there is a fear amongst the guardians that their adolescent may get trapped in drug/alcohol abuse. [1]

(b) Addiction : It is a psychological attachment to certain effects such as euphoria or temporary feeling of well being. [1]

Dependence : It is the tendency of the body to manifest a characteristic and unpleasant withdrawal syndrome if regular dose of drugs/alcohol is abruptly discontinued. [1]
