Solution

The correct option is A
3P1=5P2
Mass of the block = 60 kg

Weight of the block, F=mg=60×10=600N (Usingg=10m/s2)

Pressure exerted by the block when it is made to lie on the dimensions 50cm×40cm: PA=FA1=mg50×40=60050×40=0.3 N/cm2

Pressure exerted by the block when it is made to lie on the dimensions 40cm×30cm:
PB=FA2=60040×30=0.5 N/cm2

Pressure exerted by the block when it is made to lie on the dimensions 50cm×30cm:

Pc=FA3=60050×30=04 N/cm2

Maximum pressure, PB=0.5N/cm2=P1
Minimum pressure, PA=0.3N/cm2=P2P1P2=0.50.33P1=5P2

Hence, the correct answer is option (a).
