A worker in a factory is paid rupees 2 per hour for normal work and double the rate for overtime work. Write down an expression for his one week's earnings in which he worked for 40 hours out of which x hours was overtime. Also, find the number of hours of his normal work if he receives rupees 116 in all.

The correct option is A Rupees 2(x+40) and 22 hrs
If the worker worked overtime for x hours, then he did normal work for 40x hours.
His pay for the week = Rs. 2(40x)+4x= Rs. 2(40+x)
Given, 2(40+x)=116
40+x=58
x=18
This means, he did normal work for 4018=22 hours.
