Solution

The correct option is A (μ2μ11)t

The waves arriving from slits S2 will have increased optical path.

The path difference between arriving waves at O,
Δx=[S2O+(μrel1)t]S1O
Δx=(S2OS1O)+(μrel1)t
From symmetry of figure,
S2O=S1O
Δx=(μrel1)t

or, Δx=(μ2μ11)t

Why this question?Tip : When YDSE setup is placed in liquid and a slab is placed infront of one of the slits, then path difference caused between interfering waves will be based on relative refractive index of the slab.
