According to De Broglie, electrons can only remain in orbits as stationary waves if the circumference of these orbits are integral multiple of λ
2πr=nλ
This explanation is totally independent of the atomic number of atom used.
Here for n=3, the circumference of the third Bohr orbit must be
3(λ).So, the total circumference will be three times the wavelength of the electron wave.
