Solution

The correct option is A True

Lamarck theory:

Lamarck believed that traits are retained or lost in organisms depending on the usage of the same and he also believed that the same loss or gain of traits will be passed on to the next generation. Hence, he believed in the theory of inheritance of acquired characters.

Assumptions of Lamarck's theory:

  1. His theory was based on two main assumptions. The first one was the use and disuse theory. According to this, the organ used more become elongated or increase in size, the ones not used much becomes weak and hence disappears.
  2. The second assumption is the inheritance of acquired characters. According to this, whatever changes have occurred in the lifetime of an organism is passed on to the next generation through heredity.

Final answer:

The given statement is True.
