Question

Alex has 14 chocolate bars, each chocolate bar has 8 squares. He wants to divide them equally among nine friends. Will he be able to divide them fully? How many square pieces does each friend get?

Open in App
Solution

Number of chocolate bars = 14
Number of square pieces per chocolate bar = 8
Total number of square pieces = 14 × 8 = 112

Now to divide them among nine friends, divide 112 by 9.

The remainder is 4, so the chocolate bars cannot be divided fully among 9 friends as 4 will be left.

Each of the friends will get 12 square pieces.
