Question

All the diverse mineral elements present in a plant, for example, gold and selenium as mentioned above, are really necessary for plants?

Open in App
Solution

1) A plant growing near a nuclear testing area accumulates radioactive elements, for example, radioactive strontium.

2) Those growing around mines accumulate respective elements like gold or selenium.

Those are uptaken due to the common pathway of mineral absorption, but are not involved in vital functions in a plant. Thus are not needed by the plants.
