Amit participated in a marathon and had to run around the track covering a distance of 400m in 2 minutes. This activity lead to heavy breathing and he felt his heart beating faster. Later his teacher explained that this response of the body is ensuring a sufficient supply of oxygen and nutrients to various parts of the body. But Amit wants to know, which muscles were majorly involved in faster beating of heart?
Cardiac muscles are type of involuntary muscles that are not under our control. These muscles bring about the contraction and relaxation (beating) of the heart. Cardiac muscles cause our heart to relax and contract continuously at a rate of about 70 times per minute. Thus their movement is involuntary.
