• Greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane and CFCs trap the Sun's radiation. This is called greenhouse effect. Excess greenhouse effect results in an increase in Earth's temperature causing global warming.
• Air pollution is the contamination of air due to presence of harmful substances. Polluted air has high concentration of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, oxides of sulphur, nitrogen, etc., which inturn increase greenhouse effect and thereby cause global warming.
• Chlorofluoro carbons were emitted in high quantities from air conditioners and refridgerators. This aided in increasing the Earth's temperature. This is a cause of global warming.
• Depletion of ozone layer is not a cause but an effect of global warming. Due to excessive emission of CFCs, the ozone layer has been depleting and continues to do so. Chlorine reacts and breaks down ozone molecule.
