Question

An aeronautical engineer observed that on the upper and lower surfaces of the wings of an aeroplane, the speed of the air are 90m/s & 72m/s respectively. What is the left on the wing if its area is 3.2m2 density of air is 0.29kg/m3

Solution

The pressure difference is given as,

ΔP=12ρ(V22V12)

ΔP=12×0.29((90)2(72)2)

ΔP=422.82N/m2

The lift on the wing is given as,

F=ΔP×A

F=422.82×3.2

F=1353.024N
