Using conservation of linear momentum
M1V1=M2V2
M1 Mass of α particles, V1 Velocity of α particle, M2 Mass of Uranium, V2 Velocity of Uranium
4×2.34×104=238×V2V2=4×2.34×104238400m/s
There will be negative sign since recoil velocity will be in opposite direction.
So, V2=400m/s
