An athlete breathes faster and deeper than usual after finishing a race.
True
When an athlete runs in the race, his body needs more oxygen. His rate of breathing increases so that more oxygen can be supplied to the cells of his body. But the body cannot meet the demand with that rate and so the cells turn to anaerobic respiration. As a result, lactic acid accumulates in the muscle cells. This lactic acid has to be removed and therefore more blood supply is needed to the muscles. This is the reason, an athlete needs to breathe faster and deeper than usual after finishing the race.
