Solution

The correct option is A

True

When an athlete runs in the race, his body needs more oxygen. His rate of breathing increases so that more oxygen can be supplied to the cells of his body. Especially the muscle cells. But the body cannot meet the demand with that rate and the muscle cells turn to anaerobic respiration. As a result, lactic acid accumulates in them. This lactic acid has to be removed and therefore more oxygen supply is required by the muscles. This is the reason, an athlete needs to breathe faster and deeper than usual after finishing the race.
