The correct option is C40cm We have, for refraction through the convex lens, u=−12 cm, f=20 cm
We have from the lens formula, 1v−1u=1f
⇒1v1−1(−12)=120
⇒1v1=120−112=3−560=−130
⇒v1=−30cm
This image will act as the (virtual) object for the plane mirror.
For reflection at the plane mirror,
u=−(30+10)=−40cm
Thus, image distance,
v2=−(u)=−(−40)cm=40cm
