The correct option is C 40 cm
We have, for refraction through the convex lens, u=12 cm, f=20 cm

We have from the lens formula,
1v1u=1f

1v11(12)=120

1v1=120112=3560=130

v1=30 cm

This image will act as the (virtual) object for the plane mirror.

For reflection at the plane mirror,

u=(30+10)=40 cm

Thus, image distance,

v2=(u)=(40) cm=40 cm



Thus, second image is formed 40 cm behind the mirror.
