An organic compound (A) of molecular formula C7H8O on treatment with lead nitrate gives a compound (B) of molecular formula C7H6O. (B) on chlorination in presence of FeCl3 form compound (C). Identify A, B and C, write the reactions.

A(C7H8O) should have one phenyl ring due to such molecular formula and again it reacts with Pb(NO3)2 to give C7H6O. Therefore it is an oxidation reaction. So, A should be an alcohol having a phenyl ring. So the structure may be as shown in figure
