Immadi Pulikeshi was the bravest king of Badami Chalukyas and started the expansion of the Chalukya Badami Empire.
He defeated the Gangas, Kadambas and Alupas in the south.
The Pallavas were at the peak of glory in South Deccan. Pulakeshi defeated Mahendravarma as the Pallavas did not accept the sovereignty of Pulakeshi.
Pulikeshi fought a historically significant war with Harshavardhana, the prominent king of northern India, and defeated him at the banks of river Narmada.
Pulakeshi stopped Harshavardhana and earned the titles of ‘Dakshinapatheshwara’ and ‘Lord of the Peninsula’ for his daring act.
Hiuen Tsang visited the Chalukya capital suring Pulakeshi’s rule. He mentioned in his accounts that Pulikeshi was just and kind.
Pulakeshi II maintained friendly relations with foreign kings too. Arab historians report that he had diplomatic relations with the Persian king, Khusru II.
