Polyester can be blended with natural fibres to obtain different blended fibres with some properties of both polyester and the respective natural fibre.
Some of the common examples of blended polyester fibres are:
- Polywool: It is a combination of polyester and wool.
- Polycot: It is a combination of polyester and cotton.
‘1' represents a man-made fibre which is obtained from a natural source. It is therefore rayon, which is obtained by chemical treatment of wood pulp, i.e. a natural source.
Polycot, as we now know, is a man-made fibre that is a mixture of polyester and cotton. The source of cotton is natural. So, ‘4’ represents polycot.
