Acid rain, or acid deposition, is a broad term that includes any form of precipitation with acidic components, such as sulfuric or nitric acid that fall to the ground from the atmosphere in wet or dry forms. This can include rain, snow, fog, hail or even dust that is acidic. When harmful gases like sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide, react with moisture present in air, they form nitric acid and sulphuric acid. These acids when dropping down on earth along with rain is called
acid rain.
Effects of acid rain:
→ Acid rains damage crops, decrease fertility of the soil and affect aquatic life.
→ Acid rains corrode buildings and structures.
