Dear student.

The process of transfer of the pollen from the anther to the stigma is known as pollination. Pollination is a significant event because it precedes fertilization. For fertilization and formation of zygote to take place, pollination is an important process as it brings the two type of gametes closer for the process of fertilization. Also, cross pollination introduces variations in the plants due to mixing of different genes. Variation further increase the adaptability towards environment or surroundings.

Pollen grains produced by these type of flowers are light, dry and smooth Pollen grains and stigma are sticky.
Flowers are small, colorless. odorless and do not produce nectar Flower are colourful, attractive and produce nectar.
