Features of insected pollinated flowers:
  • Colourful; to be visible to pollinators
  • Fragrant; to attract the pollinators.
  • Rich in nectar; reward for pollinators. [1.5 marks]
The well exposed and light weight pollen allows it to be easily carried by the wind. Large feathery stigma to easily trap air-borne pollen grains. [1 mark]
Bright colours of the insect pollinated flowers make them easily visible to pollinators. Fragrance and nectar acts as an attractant. [1 mark]
