  • Thirdly, mention the movement against the Nizam’s rule and the leaders who led it.
Solution:
Apart from the freedom struggle movement, the people of Kalaburagi also took part in two other important movements.
  • The first movement was aimed at establishing more libraries and schools in order to instill the spirit of patriotism in the youngsters. The second was the opening of national schools to educate more children.
  • Both movements were successful in making education more accessible across Kalaburagi.
  • The opening of the national school movements for example led to the foundation of four new schools within the division.
  • Apart from the social movements, the leaders of the division also led a fierce resistance movement against the nizam of Hyderabad and his personal army, which was known as the Razakars. Nizam's army used to harass the people of Kalaburagi, and as a result, they rose in rebellion against his rule.
  • The people finally got their freedom on 17 September 1948, when Nizam gave away his rule and joined the Union of India.
  • The movement against the Nizam was led by two prominent leaders from the state, namely Ramanandatheertha and Sardar Sharanagowda Inamdar.
