Apomixis leads to

Solution

Apomixis is a method of asexual reproduction where seeds are formed without fertilisation. Since it leads to the formation of new plants from a single parent, the resulting progeny are clones or exact copies of the parent plant.

In some cases of apomixis, nucellar cells start to divide and protrude into the embryo sac. They then go on to develop into embryos resulting in a case of what is known as polyembryony.

Polyembryony is the formation of multiple embryos in a single embryo sac of the seed. Hence, apomixis can also lead to polyembryony.
