Question

are activating and deactivating groups always decided by inductive effect

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Inductive effect also decides whether the group is activating or deactivating, but it is not only this effect that decides this. Mesomeric or resonance effect also decides this. A group showing -M or -R effect is deactivating in nature and a group showinh +R or +M effect is activating.
