Fungi

  1. Fungi are eukaryotic, heterotrophic organisms that can be either single-celled or multicellular organisms.
  2. Examples- puffballs, molds, truffles, yeasts, mushrooms, etc.
  3. Viruses are made up of DNA or RNA, surrounded by a protein coat that replicates within a host cell. They cannot replicate outside the host cell.
  4. Examples- smallpox, HIV, Influenza virus, etc.
  5. Fungi are not viruses. Fungi are cellular organisms, whereas, viruses are acellular.
  6. Moreover, unlike fungi, viruses cannot be classified as living or non-living. Fungi are either aerobes or anaerobes.
