Primary function of platelets is clot formation to prevent blood clotting, but they also have a role in blood pressure. Studies have shown that increased number of platelets in blood is associated with increased blood pressure. Blood platelets,when present in large amounts, form aggregates which obstruct the blood flow and as a result cause hypertension (high blood pressure).
