Single-celled organisms lack a proper nucleus and other organelles are called prokaryotes.
Their entire genome is arranged on one chromosome and it lacks histones.
To carry out various functions like growth, metabolism, and reproduction, only one cell is required.
Examples- bacteria, archaea, and cyanobacteria.
Eukaryotes:
Multicellular organisms with a proper nucleus and other important organelles.
Most eukaryotes require more than one cell to carry out different functions. Thus specialized cells come together to form tissues that are dependent on each other to perform various functions.
Examples are plants, animals, fungi, and protists.
Some eukaryotes can be unicellular, like yeasts and algae.
