Question

Are the molecules of of different states of matter in motion? What kind of motions do the the molecules of solid exhibit?

Solution

Dear student, Particles in all states of matter (solid, liquid, gas) are in constant random motion. This motion is very rapid at room temperature. If temperature rises then there is increase in the kinetic energy and speed of particles. The particles in solids vibrate about fixed positions. This motion is possible even at low temperatures.
