Let's get the dimensions:

Area of rectangle on the top = Area of rectangle on the bottom
= length × breadth
= 4 × 1 sq. ft
= 4 sq. ft

So, total area of the two rectangles is:
= 4 × 2 sq. ft

= length × breadth
