Arrange the following steps involved in gene therapy in a correct order:
i. Isolation of functional or expressible gene to be inserted
ii. Identification of non-functional gene
iii. Insertion of DNA into a vector for delivery into the target cell
iv. Recombinant DNA construction
In the process of gene therapy, the foremost step is to identify the non-functional gene which does not perform normal function, especially in the synthesis of normal functional enzymes.
Functional genes are identified in the healthy individual and are isolated so that they can be introduced inside the affected individual.
In the next step recombinant DNA is constructed by isolating the desired DNA which is then inserted into the target cell where normal functional enzyme is produced.
