Solution

Pathogens are harmful bacteria which are not compatible with the body. The body detects any unknown harmful presence and the phagocytes kill such pathogens. Useful bacteria will be friendly with the body and it will not trigger phagocytosis. Phagocytes can distinguish between useful and harmful bacteria or other agents.
