Both the Assertion and the Reason are correct but the latter does not explain the former


The Assertion is correct. Both alkali metals and Hydrogen tend to form cations. They are both good reducing agents. Both alkali metals and Hydrogen react with Halogens, although the nature of halides is very different.

As a separate statement, Reason is also correct. Atomic Hydrogen can be isolated at extreme temperature. But this does not explain the Assertion
