Plants contain green colour pigment called chlorophyll. This pigment is responsible for trapping solar energy and helps in photosynthesis. Chlorophyll is present inside chloroplast. This is a feature of plant cells. Animal cells do not contain chlorophyll containing chloroplasts. Hence, they cannot perform photosynthesis.
