The correct option is C Assertion is incorrect but Reason is correct CH3CO group in aldehydes and ketones gives iodoform test.
Although CH3COCH2COOC2H5 contains the CH3CO group required for iodoform test yet it does not give this test since here H-atoms of CH2 group being flanked by two electron withdrawing groups are more acidic than H atoms of the CH3 group. As a result, iodination preferentially occurs at CH2 group and hence CHI3 is not formed.
From the structure, we can easily say the reason is correct.
